Jigawa PDP chairman says party does not recognise automatic ticket

The Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Jigawa, Alhaji Salisu Mahmuda, said that no contestant seeking elective position would be given automatic ticket.

Mahmuda said this while speaking with newsmen on Wednesday in Dutse.

He said that there was no provision in the party’s constitution that recognised automatic ticket for anyone to emerge as the party’s candidate.

The Chairman said that the PDP had a working constitution, therefore, members, irrespective of their status in the party, must abide by it.

“The PDP’s constitution stipulates how a candidate should emerged,” he said.

Mahmuda debunked the speculation that the governor and his supporters would quit the party.

According to him, these people have used their time and resources to build the party and have never contemplated leaving.

“How can we leave the house we built for years, to go to where and leave it for who,” he asked. (NAN)
